The fact is, all roofs wear out eventually. How fast that happens depends on the quality of materials, the attic and roof ventilation, the installation, and how severe the weather is year after year in your area.

Based on our experience at Riehl Brothers Builders, there are many factors that combine to degrade your roof, including radiation from the sun, extreme temperatures (hot and cold), wind and rain exposure, and foot traffic on the roof. Shingles that are darker in color may have a shorter lifespan than lighter-colored ones.

At Riehl Brothers Builders, we’ve found that this depends on the shape, hardness, and density of the hail; wind; age; and the type of roof. Pea- and marble-size hail shouldn’t harm composition shingles that are in good condition (unless there are high winds that accompany it).

Yes, Riehl Brothers Builders knows that with composition shingles, granular loss is considered normal wear and tear. When small hail hits the roof, it displaces some of the granules. Rain, wind, and walking on the roof have the same impact.

We find that multiple roofing layers tend to decrease your roof’s resistance to hail. If you’re unsure, check your local building codes and ordinances to see if there are restrictions on the number of roofing layers a house may have.

This depends on the season. Typically, it can take approximately 3 to 5 days. Have a completion date in mind or let us know when you want the deck ready for use. Depend on us to finish the job on time and within budget. 

In our experience, not all composite/vinyl decking products are created equal. We use various vinyl railing brands that are available. 

We use grade #1 or #2 pressure-treated wood for all framing, and all the posts under the deck will feature an extra level of treatment because they are in contact with moisture and soil.
